C Diff, or Clostridium difficile, is a bacteria that causes diarrhea and "pseudomembranous" colitis (infection of the large intestine), usually this is a complication of antibiotic treatment. This bacteria is usually not a problem for healthy individuals, because it is kept in check by the "good" bacteria in the digestive tract. However, when wide-spectrum antibiotics are used, the good bugs are killed and C Diff takes over and causes the infection. I was wondering about this bad bacteria, would replacing it with good bacteria help say in yogurt with live cultures? Just a thought.
