What happens when you starve yourself?
Everyone is saying that if you starve yourself, you just end up gaining weight. Is this true??
Answers:
It's not true, but there is some grain of truth in it - if you starve yourself, your body will go into starvation mode to conserve energy, resulting in less calories burned and thus slower weight loss. This is seen in very low calorie diets after a few weeks. But you will not gain weight by starving yourself, with the exception of extreme starvation and protein deficiency, which can lead to fluid build-up in the abdomen (ascites), a sign of severe malnutrition.
