Unknown pain in legs in varying degrees
Hello, I have a unknown pain in my legs (at the top of the legs, near where the bone and bone muscle is) that sometimes disappears and then later reappears in varying degrees of pain. Sometimes it'll just be my thighs and other times it'll be the part of my leg below the knees however it never effects both parts at the same time nor do my feet ever hurt or tingle. I have already gone to the doctor and the doctor eliminated blood clotting by checking the pulse of my feet which was fine, the doctor suggested it might be leg splints (sp?) but it's been hurting for most of the school year, now half of the summer break and I'm just plain tired of the pain mainly because by the time summer rolled around the pain seems to have reached its peak, originally it was something that could be ignored, something that only occurred frequently but now it's a noticeable pain and occurs daily and I'm not so sure that it's leg splints (sp?). Anyone have any idea what the hell this might be? It really sucks and I want to get it away...Aspirin doesn't help...I really need pain killers...arg! :(
Age: 18
Sex: male
Past diagnoses: leg splint (sp?) ...an issue where the leg muscle separates some if doing too much exercise
Past surgeries: none
Family history: regarding this health issue, unknown
Current medications: fluvoxamine maleate 50mg
"sp?" = spelling?

I would recommend a sleep study, which sounds crazy, but it is actually an excellent diagnostic tool. This will allow your physician to see if you have a condition known as restless leg syndrome. RLS is a treatable condition (the newest treatment being a medication called Mirapex). Any physician can refer you to a sleep clinic. The study is performed by a polysomnography tech, scored by a tech, and then sent to a neurologist for final interpretation. These results are usually then sent to your referring physician who will treat you for the disorder. This is a good thought. My doctor seems to not be sure what it is, I'm going back though as she said she has some blood tests to try... I myself have wondered if this is RLS as it does seem to fall pretty well in place with the syndromes. The only trick will be getting my parents to get me tested for RLS as they don't believe it's a real problem but instead "Just another way the pharmacy is trying to get you to buy more medicine...". Since I started seeing the TV ads for RLS I've always felt like that was the condition I have. I suppose I really just need to get myself tested for it.
Thanks for the reply! :)
