unknown diagnosis and need help please!

Dear Drs.,
I have had tingling in my hands for about 8 years. In 2003 I was diagnosed with TOS on the right side & had a scalenectomy & first rib removal. That relieved the pain & numbness/ tingling inthe r side of my hand/ pinky & ring finger. However, these last two years have brought back the pain & tingling in both hands. I have had 4 EMG's over the last 3 years. The most recent one last month. It shows mild carpal tunnel/ mild ulner nerve compression & possible nerve compression in the neck. I had an MRI 3 weeks ago/ 2 sets of xrays as well. The MRI shows C2-3 herniated disc and C3-4 as well. I was told by my orthopedic dr that the neck compression could not be the cause of my problems with my hands & arms duto the pain & tingling is equal on both sides.

Here is a list of my most recent symptoms:
1. Pain & tingling both hands/ palms .. all except pinky fingers.
2. Fingers turn bright red from nuckles down to finger tips.. often from bright red to purple.
3. Sharp shooting pains ( feel like electric shocks) in fingers & wrists.
4. If standing & close eyes will lose balance ( have fallen hard most recently today)
5. Sharp blinding pain in top of head into eyes causing temp inability to see.
6. Weakness in arms ( have dropped my newborn 3x .. now afraid to carry him)
7. Have rash that starts like hives the turns to small blisters that scab & leave scars that look like small pock marks. I get this rash apprx every 6-8 mnths all over my body except my face ( thank God!) and it will last anywhere from 3 weeks to 5 months. ( extremely painful & itchy!)

I need help please. My family practitioner has put me on cymbalta and lyrica and it is not really helping. This has become so disabling that it is ruining my life. I have 4 young children and can barely help them. I have dificulty even cutting a PB&J sandwich!

Any new insite would be extemely appriciated. ( oh, also tested negitive for Lymes)

Thanks!

Hi Sheaxmas, thanks for your question. You describe a complex list of symptoms. I'm happy that you've been seen by the proper specialists. While I cannot possibly diagnose your symptoms, let me just briefly comment on your symptoms:
Numbers 1,3 and 6 could be due to cervical disc/degeneration if corresponding MRI findings were present.
The others would not be explained by cervical spine disease.
Numbers 2 and 7 could be due to allergies.
Numbers 4 and 5 might require a neurologist's appointment.

Of course, please remember that the above does not mean that there aren't numerous other possible causes for your symptoms, like you mentioned, carpal tunnel syndrome could cause symptoms such as pain and tingling in hands. Ulnar nerve compression seems unlikely as pinky fingers would most likely be affected. There are of course other possible causes, same goes for your other symptoms.

Complex symptoms such as these absolutely require a thorough physical examination and evaluation of medical history by a physician, and are impossible to diagnose over the Internet. Please talk to your doctor and if you are not satisfied with the treatment, you can seek a second opinion.

If you wish, you can post some cervical spine MRI images, or send them to me via the e-mail link, and I can take a look and try to provide you with more information on those.
