Tingling and Numbness in arm and cheek

For about a year and a half now, I've had a tingling in my left arm. In Sept. 06, I actually went to the ER for my heart, as I did feel some chest discomfort while walking with my wife. They ran an EKG and x-rays, and said I was ok.
Recently, I began having some tingling/numbness in my left face. Both the tingling in the arm and the face come and go. I do NOT feel it more during exercise. In fact, I usually don't feel it at all during exercise. The face tingling jumps, sometimes near the ear, sometimes in the cheek and sometimes near the mouth. It is concentrated on the left side of the mouth, and I worry about stroke, although at my physical a few weeks ago, my doctor seemed unconcerned. Sometimes, it feels like my ear is clogged. I have occasional left, shoulder pain and the other day when I threw a ball with my left hand, I felt a strong nerve pain.
Lately, I have heard many people talk about a nerve issue instead of a heart/stroke issue.
Any ideas/suggestions?
