Spots in eye-doctors are baffled.

I am writing to obtain some information about a condition my dad has, which has doctors here stumped. Since November or so, he has said that in the periphery of his left eye, a black spot has developed. An eye doctor indicated that the spot in his vision was being caused by pressure in his eye's veins, but he didn't know what else to do. My dad went to an eye specialist who sent him for an MRI. His MRI shows no growth on his brain (which was what we were afraid of), but some pressure in his sinus cavity which could be causing the problem. He had extensive blood work done which showed no signs of concerns anywhere, but yet the little bloody vein spot in his eye has gotten slightly bigger (as per his last exam last week). He does have heartburn issues and a rotting tooth (I'm listing everything I know that is bugging him as I have been told poor dental health could cause issues else where). Now, he is being sent to a neurologist for advice since all other avenues are coming up with no answers. Doctors gave him penicillin to try and decrease the pressure in his eye. He took it for 21 days, but there was no change.
Any advice you could offer would be VERY much appreciated. We are quite stressed with this all, especially since we are not getting answers anywhere. Anyone else out there experienced something like this?
