Spacing Out/daydreaming

I know a lot of people space out, but the way I space out seems a little strange to me and dangerous. For example, Sometimes when I'm driving i'll just kind of start daydreaming. Then I'll come back to my senses and realize that i've turned a corner or am at a red light, but i'll have a hard time remembering exactly what happened. One time my mom was in the car and she looked over at me at a red light and noticed i had a completly blank stare on my face. she called my name and i noticed we were almost a minute down the road. One more recent occurance was when i was doing h/w. I was reading sentences off a paper and typing them in word. I found myself complety spaced out. I was seeing and hearing things that happened that day in my head almost like a lucid dream. It kind of freaked me out because i came out of it only because i ran out of things to type. I had finished the 1/3 page I had left and didn't remember anything that i typed when i went back to read it. (also, there were no errors in my typing). A lot of times when i go into a different room for something and space out along the way, i can't remember what i was doing. Basically, I just want to know how far from normal my "daydreaming" is, or if it could be some kind of disorder. might be unnecesary but here's some brief background that i think might help: no trouble in school, 4.0gpa, no head trauma, slept walked a lot as a child, no injuries as a result of occurences, been happening for as long as i could remember, and usually at least once a day. Thanks.
