Sharp or shooting pain in lower right side
For four years now, I have been experiencing a sharp and shooting pain in the area of my appendix. I have been to the doctor and have had many tests--ultrasound, cat scan, and colonoscopy. Nothing could be found to explain this pain. The pain comes and goes. I can have the pain off and on for a few days and then nothing for days or even weeks. There is no warning, it just comes quickly. I must stop what I am doing and rub my lower right side. This seems to help, but it does not necessarily stop the pain. The cycle of pain might last three to five minutes and it stops and might come back in an hour. After the pain quicks I review what I have ate in the last day to see if there might be a trigger that causes this. At this point I do not know what else to do. The doctors say if it gets worst there might be some ointment that I could rub on the skin in that area to see if that helps. The test results indicate that there is nothing there to cause this pain. I suspect the appendix, but the doctors say it looks normal. Do you have any thoughts?
