Seizure medicine during Pregnancy
I am 26 years old. I started to have grandmal seizures when I was 19. I was put on several medications and neurontin was the only thing that worked for me. I have been siezure free for 4 years so I began to wheen oh neurontin safetly. I had been off it for 5 months and had a seizure the other day and had to be hospitalized. They want me to go back on my neurontin however it is a class c for pregnancy and I'm not sure what to do. I would ask my neurologist but I can not get in to see him for 2 months. I don't want to wait to get pregnant. What should I do? Anyone can you help?

Since it really unclear what effects neurontin would have on your your unborn child, it as you stated being a class C, it would be worth the wait to discuss this personally with your Dr. Good Luck

Thanks Purple Lady. See if you can talk to your neurologist sooner. If not, then I would agree that you should wait until you discuss your pregnancy plans with your neurologist first. At 26, you can afford to wait two months. Epilepsy medication during pregnancy should be carefully planned under the supervision of a neurologist.
