Partial Complex Epilepsy (aka Complex Partial Seizures)
So after months of fretting and freaking out and tests, I finally get diagnosed with Partial Complex Epilepsy and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Neuro has me on 100 mg of Lamactil which we are gradually upping to 200 mg.
That explains a lot as far as I've read that this causes a person to be tired after an episode and it explains they can wipe out memories of events just before during and after it and that memory lapses can be a problem. I think the sudden falling down may also be a symptom. But I'm still confused about some things.
My EEG came back negative for seizures yet isn't epilepsy the same as a seizure? How did they miss that? I was also told by a nurse that my birth control can cancel out the effects of the Lamactil. Is that true? And what exactly is Partial Complex Epilepsy and what exactly is it doing to me? Most of what I read about it might as well be greek to me. Can someone explain this to me? I'm taking Lamactil but is there anything else I can do that will help?
How can I explain Partial Complex Epilepsy to others? I don't know how to explain that I have no control over what happens during the episodes and that I don't remember what happened and I certainly can't control when they happen. I am being treated for them but I just don't know how to explain this to someone else, like my employer.
And what kind of treatments can I do for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? I don't have any numbness or tingling and the only pain is from when I'm writing for longer than a few min. I just have no grip. I can't pick up a ring or anything smaller. So what's available out there?
