pain under left rib that radiates down to toes - very scared - help

Hi -

I have MS. I started having a pain under my left rib about two weeks ago that eventually started hurting all the way down to my hip area. I went to the doctor and he said that I had diverticulitis. I took the medicines and got no better then he said he would put me in the hospital to run tests and figure out what was wrong with me. Their first thought was colitis. They x-rayed my abdomen, gave me a CT scan, X-rayed my chest, ran every blood test in the world and performed a colonoscopy and found absolutely nothing. They told me that I look great on paper. They then decided that this is an MS flare up - although they did not do an MRI to confirm any new lesions. I am new to the MS world but find it hard to believe that MS could make you feel like you have razor blades in your intestines when food moves though it. I am also now having pain that goes all the way to my toes. I have an appt. to visit with my neurologist next week and they have given me many pain pills to take till I can see him. Does this sound right? Can MS effect you this way? I am very scared because I have never felt pain such as this and can't imagine that MS can effect you this way. After doing much research on the web, I don't find anyone else that has had anything like this with MS.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Everyone -

I posted this question before and Hope that someone will give me an answer here. I am still suffering from the pain in my ribs that radiates all of the way to my toes. They performed another MRI and showed no new lesions. I still have this horrible pain and I am taking pain pills daily and still the pain does not let up. Has anyone else had this type of pain with MS? It has gone on over one month and I just can't imagine that it is MS. Please answer - Let me know what you think.

Thanks! :-[Hi jwood,

I was doing some reading on MS and pain. There are many kinds it seems. One site i read one patient said its hard to find other people with the kind of pain you have, meaning herself. I wish I could help you. I realize with pain its hard to stay active. Can you discuss with your neurologist your pain situation, maybe he can prescribe another sort of pain management for you. Sorry I couldn't be more help and please keep us posted.

Regards,

Purple98LadyI hope things have gotten better for you. Wish there was something I could say but I know there is not. I have still not been diagnosed with MS but also have various pains. I am waiting for a response to my post too but I just posted a couple of days ago and know it can be a while. What pain meds are you on?
