Myoclonus

Hello,

Fall from golf cart 9/14/07. Evacuation of epidural hematoma and skull fractures were fixed with screws. Left brain occipital and parietal areas affected, therefore, have some right-leg hemi-paraethesis.

One month later, my legs jerked lying in bed watching tv. Didn't think much of it--lasted 5-10 min.-similar to when you're falling asleep.

5 weeks later, right leg woundn't move but 6 steps. Neurosurgeon ordered CT scan--was fine. Jerkings were bilateraly of both legs and sometimes arms. Happened frequently. Lactimal made them much, much worse.

Now on Klonezapam and Depakote which does help.

My neurologist says it is myoclonus; movement disorders specialists said it's non-organic conversion disorder or psychogenic. Doesn't make sense to me that that is it due to meds are making it better, but I still want remainder of flailings (10-15%) to go away so I can drive.

Do you suggest 3rd opinion? Could it be neurons or brain circuitry still working itself out? CT scan, MRI, EEG was fine (except after bright lights shown in my eye, my whole body jerked so severe, was diagnosed in ER with severe myoclonus.)

Anything you can say will help. I'm thinking Mayo Clinic since they are state-of-the-art on movement disorders.

Thank you.
Faith
