MRI Results?
I have been having many symptoms over the past year that have led me to get an MRI to rule out Multiple Sclerosis.I still have 3 months to wait to see a neurologist.I was wondering your view on the results of my MRI, My results:
Exam:MRI Head , brain c-
The ventricles are normal in size. No evidence of edema or mass effect. There are two tiny foci of increased signal on T2 weighted images, located within the subcortical white matter of the left parietal lobe posteriorly and the left parietal lobe superoanteriorly. These measure approx 3 mm in size and are likely not clinically significant.
So does this mean that Multiple Sclerosis is definately ruled out? How do they make the judgement that the lesions are not significant, is it by the size of the lesion? So a larger lesion is likely to cause more symptoms than a smaller one? Thank you very much for responding to my questions.....

Looks like we may be in similar situations-I just made a rather lengthy post yesterday. What kind of symptoms have you been having?Increased signal on T2 weighted images - these are the so-called "white spots". When the radiologist calls these probably not clinicall significant, it probably means that he's familiar with your symptoms and the location of the spots does not match the symptoms, or that he is judging them by their size and comparing this finding to the incidence of these "white spots" in healthy individuals.
In other words, the answer to your question is that the MRI does not definitely rule out MS (as it never does), but according to the radiologist, there is nothing that really suggest MS either.

http://askdoctorjoshua.com/2007/01/0...ia-simplified/Thank You Dr.Joshua for your reply. Molly the symptom I have had the longest has been numbness and pins and needles, I have had that for more than 10 years. But the past year I have been having so many symptoms that it is unbearable. I will start namimg them, my voice changes, problems swallowing, achy back and legs, muscle cramps, weakness, fatigue, stabbing pains all over whole body, electrical zaps (when moving head to the side), sensations that feel like Im being stung by a bee, my muscles are constantly moving, and Im sure there are more Im just drawing a blank right now. My gp has chalked it up to stress and anxiety and I am not convinced, I have some good days others are a struggle. I guess I wait to see the neurologist in March.
