Losing Sensation or My Mind?

I am a nineteen year old female with an extensive medical history. Over the past months, I have had some problems with numbness on the lower right side of my face. Now whole patches of skin go numb. I've tested sensitivity in many areas using a lancet or a needle. There are some areas where I am completely losing sensation. I have a history of seizures, frequent infections, diabetes 2, anemia, and migraines. Could the numbness have anything to do with it?

I'd also like to add that my left arm has been getting increasingle sore and stiff. Most of my hand often goes numb. It keeps waking me up in the middle of the night. I'm a college student. I can't afford lose any more sleep. In your previous post you mentioned your Dr. ordering an eeg. Did he and what were the results. Are you going to a neurologist? I would see one and work from there. good Luck

Purple98LadyMy eeg was normal. I can't really afford a neurologist right now. I am going to talk to my hand surgeon about my arm. It may have to do with peripheral neuropathy. God, I hope it isn't.Dear Confuzzled,
It breaks my heart to hear of someone so young with health problems so severe. I was 27 when I started my chronic pain condition. I feel cheated, angry, resentful , much of which I am sure you encounter. We all expect to have health problems as we age, not when we are young and supposedly vital.
I would try to see a psych to help you deal with your feelings about your early age health problems, very helpful. I had a pain psych that was basically an advocate for me arranging my care and coordinating with my other docs. I would also recommend seeing a neurologist who can eliminate many possibilities with blood tests and also diagnose MS if that is the case. It has taken me 15 years and 26 doctors so far and I have recieved a diagnosis of chronic pelvic pain syndrome involving multiple organs with Interstitial Cystitis, IBS, and Vulvodynia, but I am still not finished in searching for the one thing that ties these all together. I started losing feeling , having tingling, pin prick sensations in hands , feet, and chin, double vision, loss of balance, dropping things, etc. I am seeing a Neuro right now and am scheduled for a Brain MRI. I wish you the best of luck in finding compassionate doctors who know what they are talking about and get a diagnosis within a good time frame, unlike me. Get your parents involved if you can, have an advocate because sometimes when you have to explain to the doc what is going on and he gives you directions to follow, having a person with you is helpful, especially since you are young and will be taken more seriously if you have an older person with you. I find that when my husband comes with me not only is his recollection of directions better than mine, because I am losing my mental recollection, but the doctors seem to take us hysterical , over reacting young women more seriously. I wish you luck and better health. You have to take the bull by the horns on this one as no one else is going to do it for you. Dr's give you an average of 7 minutes to explain your situation, be ready before hand with all symptoms written down. Know what you want to ask them too. They seemto do all the asking, very quickly.
Best of luck and health to you- TerraYou are not losing your mind
