Leg Pain And Numbess

I am a 36 year old woman (on Lexapro for anxiety). For the last week, I have awakened in the middle of the night with pain in the middle of my right calf muscle. It is accompanied by a feeling of warmness in the skin around the site, a change in tissue consistency, and numbness that jolts through my body like an electric shock when the throbbing becomes particularly painful. The numbness also occasionally shocks my whole face, and even the inside of my mouth. It is a very distinct and unmistakable feeling. When I palpate my calf on the right side, it feels mushy compared to the other side, that feels well defined. I have never experienced nor heard of anything remotely like this and I am a tad concerned. Is this just leg cramps, or something more serious?

Always with calf pain/swelling, the possibility of deep venous thrombosis should be kept in mind and therefore a visit to the doctor is necessary to check for that. As for the numbness/jolts I cannot evaluate that over the Internet- you'll have to talk to your doctor about that. There is no single disease/condition that would be immediately suggested to me by this combination of symptoms, so a thorough history and physical examination is needed for diagnosis- as always.
