intracranial pressure with pulsatile tinnitus
Hello! I have intracranial pressure with pulsatile tinnitus. I did have paplidema at one time but at this time it is under control. I just had a spinal tap 1 month ago. My neurologist said my number was 27. They said 10-15 was normal. He wasn't too alarmed but his colleague was. I have terrible side effects with diamox and topamax. They put me on a diuretic. I have a feeling in my gut that this is serious and I should seek further help. Does anyone now if 27 is real high and if pulsatile tinnitus is harmful. Please help! I am at my wits end with no help.

You are not alone! I definitely think there is correlation between high ICP and pulsatile tinnitus. I recommend that you have an MRI with contrast ASAP. High ICP is not something to screw around with. Do you notice that it is worse when lying down?
I by no means want to scare you!
Most neurologists do not know very much about the ramifications of high ICP (I have been there). I personally would go to the neurologist who seemed concerned.
I have had pulsatile tinnitus since I was a kid. I started having headaches at the age of 28 (I am now 34). A physician ordered an MRI and I was eventually diagnosed with hydrocephalus. I have had several procedures to lower my ICP. One of which was a VP shunt. As soon as I had it implanted the noise went away. I eventually had it removed and the noise didn’t come back.
Approx. a month ago the noise has returned. I'm waiting it out for a few months before I contact my neurosurgeon.
