I'm falling apart. Could it be MS or something else...
Hello! I'm new here. My name is shar and i'm at a lost as to why in the heck is my body falling apart. Over this year, my body has been going through something bad and now this past week, it is too much. Over the year I started having some vision problems, suddenly my contacts aren't strong enough, things looking blurry, then unexplained fatigure, hot flashes, jerk like spasms of my body as soon as i'm at rest, sudden tremors, mild headache, some back ache on and off, short term memory. (and getting days confused). Then this month, I started getting unexplained stomach queasyness.I briefly had a stomach virus, but even before and after that, I get queasy. Once while lying in bed, my left hand just fell completely numb suddenly (I dropped my drink) and I shook it for a long time just to get some feeling in it. some sharp pain in arms and legs sometime and stingy on the skin of my thighs. Then three and a half days ago, suddenly while walking my legs starting going numb, like a numbing vibration type feeling in them. I thought oh, my legs are just falling asleep (but I was walking), well the numbing got worse and worse and I couldn't feeling nothing almost from the mid thighs through my feet. I staggered around, finally I had to get to my house as fast as possible and sit down cause it was too much. My left leg is numb the worse but the right leg is numb to. It has been so bad, that I decided to go into the ER. yesterday.
the doctor tells me that that I got to see a neuroligist, and they want to test me for some rare disease that come from having a bad virus and can make you go numb and she wants to test me for MS because it is common in people my age. She put a cold medal object on the bottom parts of my legs and I felt hardly anything at all. She says she does not feel it is a nerve problems, such as a damaged nerve. However she says the numbness is acute and that concerns her greatly. She seem more concerned with testing me for MS. Sometimes when the numbing get real bad, I get light headed and short of breath. Thsi is SCARYING me. This numbing is so bad at times, that when I got to move my feet, it is like they are not obeying me because I can't feel anything in them., it is very weird.
Basicallym, by the time 7 p.m. comes the numbing is way to much for me to be walking around and it worsens when i'm in motion or if I have walked a few steps.
I often feel like I haven't slept in days, weak and fatigue. if I don't get 10 to 12 hours of sleep, I nod off all the time, just fall asleep suddenly and have to fight to stay away. I get a few walking steps in and my legs go very numb. this scares me and the suddenly spasms of my body when i'm going to sleep, sometimes my whole chest will jerk and sudden sharp pain in parts of my body sometime. I can't walk down hill at all almost later in the day and it is almost impossible walking up steps without having alot of trouble. I can't remember hardly anything anymore, if I haven't been doing it for sometime, suddenly I have to use sitcky notes alots and people got to repeat things to me over and over again. I can't remember most times what I did the day before unless I talk about it alot.
the spasms happen so much, that I was temporarily put on a heart monitor, cause they were out of control and it was feeling like my heart was skipping a beat during the big spasms of my entire body.
Do anyone have an idea of what it could be? I know hardly anything about MS and for testing what should I expect, questions I should ask.
I'm only 150 pounds and 5'8 and pretty much eat right and get some exercise.
So this year is a surprise to suddenly see a decline in my health so fast and I just can't take it anymore. It is scarying me now.
Any suggestions? especially for when I see the neuroligist. Thank you for all your help.
