find myself doing things that make no sense, having memory problems
i take adderall 30mg a day for ADD. i thought things i was doing was from the ADD but it seems like it's more than just a concentration issue. i'm 37 yrs old. this is some of the things that's happened, which i think seems quite out of the ordinary:
running a stop sign, forgot i needed to stop, almost running into the back of someone's car, one time my mom yelled at me to stop & the other time my brain clicked and reminds me i need to stop after i'm an inch from hitting them.. this does not occur while i'm taking adderall. but other things have, like trying to open my front door with a button i'm pushin that opens my car door (have done this several times). i finally end up realizing what i am doing when the door won't open. my pharmacist asks me for my bday & i give her my phone number instead. plug the cord out of the wall to my treadmill with no memory i did it & had complete intentions of getting back on it to walk. find myself lookin in the cabinet like i was in a daze, didn't even need anything from the cabinet, nor even meant to get in it!!! i've put my hairbrush in my refrigerator before.
it's like temporary brain failure and i don't even know what i'm doing though i eventually realize.
there's a condition my grandfather had before he passed away & my brother also has where your brain actually shrinks. my last mri may have been about 5yrs ago, & it was NORMAL. but these things were not occuring when i had the MRI. Is that condition hereditary, or aneurysms? I had 2 great aunts die from an aneruysm rupturing.
i have short term memory problems. are these things occuring possibly normal? i don't know anyone that does this. though i did see my grandfather do some weird things from a brain tumor (caused by a fall). but i haven't fallen or hit my head hard on anything. i wonder if i'm just going crazy. i don't understand what's happening.

Hi sweetie!
I can completely relate. I've done my fair share of stupid things and things I can't remember. I've put trash in the refridgerator, I've searched my entire apartment for my cell phone or my keys only to realize they were in my hand or in my pocket, I've washed my hair more than twice or washed up in the shower more than twice because I couldn't remember if I had done it or not, I type or write or repeat things because I don't remember if I did it. I've even walked through my office and fixed a printer twice even though I had never seen anyone fix it before nor had I ever worked on that printer before. I've been caught by co-workers staring at said printer for over 30 min waiting for a document I never printed. Did the same thing driving and almost rear-ending someone and not remembering if I stopped at that stop sign (I stopped driving after that). Yep, I've done a lot of things not realizing what I was doing.
I've had 3 EEGs and 2 MRIs. Cancer runs in my family from my Great Grandfather to my mom and her brother, every generation has at least 1 member with cancer. All my tests came back normal too. A neurologist told me I had epilepsy and put me on anti-seizure medications for 8 months with no results.
So I have a question for you. Do you have low blood pressure or an abnormal heart beat (skipping beats or adding beats)? I ask because I do have both problems and I have been finally diagnosed with Neuro-Cardiogenic Syncope. Quote: Neurocardiogenic syncope is also known as vasovagal syncope or neurally mediated syncope. It describes a transient failure of the brain to adequately regulate the body's blood pressure and heart rate. The exact reasons why this occurs are still unclear, but a basic understanding is evolving. The blood pressure control centers are located in the posterior parts of the brain (the brainstem or medulla). Every time a person stands, gravity pulls blood toward the lower extremities. The brain senses this change and compensates by increasing the heart rate and tightening (constricting) the blood vessels of the legs, forcing blood back upward to the brain. These centers in the brainstem (the autonomic centers), then work as a sort of thermostat to regulate blood pressure. In neurocardiogenic syncope, the system periodically breaks down allowing the blood pressure to fall too low, causing the brain to lose its blood supply resulting in loss of consciousness (fainting).
I don't faint though. Instead my body fights to keep me from hitting the floor and as a result, I have spells where I black out internally and I won't remember a thing from what happened during the spell. It usually starts with something, like my episodes happen right after my vision becomes blurry. Do you have any of these symptoms before you have an episode? Quote: Most patients have a prodome such as nausea, diaphoresis, lightheadedness, blurred vision, headaches, palpitations, paraesthesia, and pallor which usually occur in the upright position (standing or sitting) and resolve almost immediately when the patient assumes the supine position (laying down).
If you do, talk to a cardiologist. I hope this helps!
