Epilepsy - sorry

I'm sorry... I'm sure you must have answered this somewhere, but oh my goodness I can't find an answer that would fit my situation.

I started having seizures 2 weeks ago. Had 2 in the space of 4 days. Generalised tonic clonic seizure. One came in the morning on the bus to a company function, and the other was in the afternoon at a training session at work at our head office. I had a strange feeling of de ja vu before both (What I now know is referred to as Auras) but these lasted mere seconds and before I knew what was happening I was waking up to a whole lot of freaked out people. Both seizures lasted 5-6 minutes. This was followed by headaches and tiredness. Severe musclepain followed the following day. I've been to a hospital, and have been tested extensively. MRI and bloodwork came back clean. Neurosurgeon diagnosed idiopathic epilepsy and I've been forbidden to drive (In a country with no public transport to speak of. HA)

I've been put on a dose of Topamax 25MG, Folic Acid 5mg and Rivotril 0.5mg (x2) once daily.

I do have a medical aid and can go for a second opinion, but can't afford to take the time off work. I will if I have to but this is second choice. Is there a chance that I do not have epilepsy? I'm very scared that I've been misdiagnosed and that I'm taking medicines that I don't need. I must admit though that I haven't had any more seizures since I started the medication, but the side effects are driving me crazy. My normally sharp mind feels like it's been stuffed full of cotton wool and I keep forgetting arb things.

If I do have epilepsy and I need to take this medicine and stick with it I will.

How do I get peace of mind short of booking into some clinic for extensive and extremely boring (nevermind expensive) testing?
