Dr. Joshua - what could be the cause of a 9 year old having numbness

My 9 year old daughter has been complaining that her leg is asleep. This week we went skiing and the ones who were teaching her to water ski (doctor and nurse) both mentioned that one leg was weaker than the other. I put that together with the leg falling asleep and started asking questions. This is what she told me:

It starts at the top of her thigh and spreads to her foot. No pain. Lasts about 5 minutes. Is more frequent now than before. (On our trip she mentioned it probably 4-5 times during the day when we were driving.) Now she is starting to feel it once in a while in her right leg and wrists. It doesn't cause her to not be able to move, though. She says she's not extra tired nor has any other symptoms.

I will be getting an appointment with her pediatrician but that takes a couple of weeks at the minimum.

She is in good health, normal weight, but is quite tall for her age and growing very fast. No health problems. No hospital visits. Only sees her doctor once per year for well-child check-up. Is pigeon toed quite a lot.

Thanks for any ideas you might be able to give me.
