Death Due to Sadness?
Is it possible to die from extreme sadness/depression
? I was just watching Star Wars Ep. III with a friend, and at the end one of the protagonists dies (rather abruptly
) because she "lost the will to live". My friend doesn't believe its possible, but I feel that it may be, in some way, plausible. Maybe not in such an acute manner though. Other opinions would be most helpful
Answers:
Death from depression I don't think is as fast as on star wars, but chronic depression untreated and for what ever reason can take it toll on your health, leading to other conditions etc., sometimes even suicide. Losing the will or zest for living also can lead to a downward spiral which inturn gets complicated by various health conditions from one not caring about themselves in this mental state. Its very sad but over time one can just not care and hasten their death.
Purple98Ladyi agree that depression leads to things that can cause it.
