Dark Spot on Stool
Hello:
I just had a bowel movement and I noticed there was a single dark spot on the stool...the rest of it was uniform in colour. There was no apparent blood on the toilet paper. I'm kind of freaked out because I know that dark stool can indicate blood...but I have a hard time believing it is...I'm only 18 and in perfect health (I hope). I have no other symptoms whatsoever.
Help!!
Answers:
maybe its something you ingested, think of things you have eaten say like grape skins, beets, nuts . Theres lots of things you eat can cause this. If you are really concerned you can visit your primary for an examination and stool sample for testing. If you have a family history of any colon cancer etc. by all means be seen. But most likely your just fine.
It is quite common for this to happen, and it may mean nothing more than you ate a food that caused it to turn dark in one spot. As far as I know, it is not a sign of blood in the stool. If it persists, then consult a physician or other medical expert, but this doesn't sound like anything serious.
