CT scan-validity?
How valid is a CT scan result? Isn't it possible that if , let's say an aneurysm, is very tiny it may not show up? I have a metal clip, so MRI's are no good for me. I had an AVM removed years ago.
I had a migraine last year that was the worse I had. Imitrex took care of it in 24 hours, but I was left off balance, side vision in one eye gone for 2 wks & a busting headache that came sporadically for over a month. After 3 wks I finally went for a CT scan. That headche nailed the same groove on the surgery. A few months ago I had a grand mal seizure w/ Todd's Syndrome. Ct scan came back fine, but the daily headache on the groove has returned, although it's not as severe as the prior one. No migraine this time w/ the grand mal.
I just find it odd that it picks that spot. I have milder headaches on the other side.
Thanks!

Thanks Dr. Joshua for the info. I had the AVM surgery twice. Let's just say the first surgeon failed to do it right. That was in 91'. In 94' it was done "correctly" & the metal clip was put in. The surgeon said no MRI's & a few years ago. I had a copy of the "type of clip" sent to my current neuro. & he agreed no MRI.. The last angiogram was with last years CT scan. If that's the same as dye in the groin, now a days done w/ dye in the arm? The last angiogram in the groin was probably in 94'. I was told, (my memory isn't the best) that the second surgeon said the first surgeon really made a mess. I assume that is why the seizures remain. My first seizure was how the AVM was found. It was on the left temporal lobe.
Interesting to hear about the migraine "eye" thing. I had assumed that was why the loss of vision was on the right side.. I didn't know it should have been on both eyes. I'm glad it was only in one though. I had a mild seizure last year that began w/ the aura. In less than a minute the migraine began. I recall telling my family Dr. that it felt like a screwdriver was shoved in my left ear, went straight through, hit my eye on the opposite side & then the flashing lights began. The seizure was forgotten. I have just never found or heard about neither a seizure or migraine leaving someone in such a mess, so long.
Thanks again for your help!!
You're very welcome! From your description it does sound like a CT-angiogram was also done, although I can't be 100% sure. After snooping around about how an angiogram is done I may have been wrong. I had the contrast in the arm, but it appears you are supposed to remain for 2-4 hours after an angiogram. I was out the door right after the CT scan.
Obviously the best Dr's can be found on the Internet.
