Colon cancer question
Hello,
My husband has been having bright red blood in his bowel movements along with tiredness and stomach cramps. He is 26 years old and is usually very healthy. Could this be colon cancer? Would a virtual colonoscopy be able to detect anything?
Thank you!
Answers:
The blood in his stool and the stomach craps may not be connected. Bright red blood in the stool I've always thought meant that it was strictly a problem in the lower GI area (and could be something as simple as hemorrhoids). If it was a something happening in the stomach or upper GI tract, the blood would be dark red because of the amount of time it's in the body and having to travel though the rest of the system.
He should get it checked out though, but I wouldn't stress or jump to conclusions that it might be colon cancer. Think positive and cross the bridge when you come to it, whatever that bridge might be. The average age of developing colon cancer is also a lot higher than 26, so at least statistically, there's a good chance that's not what the problem is.
Best wishes to you and your hubby.Thank you, I think we will get it checked just to be safe. This sounds like hemorrhoids, as was the case with someone else having a similar problem on this forum. I know from experience now that blood in the stool is not necessarily a serious health concern, but you should try to get to the source of the problem as soon as possible. The classic symptom of torsion in the ovarian cyst is severe abdominal pain accompanied by fever and nausea. Another common ovarian cyst sign is dysmenorrheal; it basically refers to the menstrual cramping commonly known as period pain. A certain level of period pain is common but some women tend to put up with excess discomfort thinking it to be normal. Severe menstrual cramps can be a sign of numerous other disorders including ovarian cysts. There is no really one single ovarian cyst sign which you can rely on to diagnose. In fact, it might be so that you have no symptom at all. Even if you do it tends to manifest as signs of other health conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis and ectopic pregnancy. Certain other totally unrelated conditions such as diverticulitis and appendicitis are also known to give symptoms and signs which mimic an ovarian cyst. Still it is imperative that you watch out for any of the.
