Chronic gastritis - is B12 deficiency likely?
Hi - I've just been diagnosed with chronic gastritis after a recent admission to A&E. I have had pain for years and on and off been taking PPIs , aloe vera etc. H pylori tests have been neagtive...... My recent blood tests show that my haemaglobin is normal and red blood cell count is normal. But the MCH is elevated and the MCV is 100 (ref range is 80-100). At the moment I'm very tired and getting tinnitus (which I read somewhere can be asssociated with low B12). Do you think that that I'm heading for pernicious anemia? I know it's slow to develop and can take years..... Do I need to get B12 tested - the doctors ave not tested that? I'm 39 years old and do eat a good diet. Am taking PPI daily, having just had intravenous PPI in hospital.
