chest pains

I have been getting constant pains in my chest the past 2 years. It is mainly on my left side but sometimes shifts to the centre. I visited a doctor a year ago, he took x rays and told me he thinks its my back as he said my heart and lungs looked fine. I have been going to physio and cannot tell if it is working as it comes and goes. Suggestions? it worries me sometime. I am not sure if I should get other tests other then x rays. The doctor did not suggest anything. Cheers

Hi and welcome,

I found this interesting article by a physician speakng of the many kinds of chest pain and some causes.

Two years is a long time to have such with out any further complications but I think I would persue another opinion and also a referral to a neurologist for further testing to come to a diagnosis.

Good Luck,

Purple98LadyThere are many causes of chest pain. One is angina which results from inadequate oxygen supply to the heart muscle. Angina can be caused by coronary artery disease or spasm of the coronary arteries. Chest pain can also be due to a heart attack (coronary occlusion) and other important diseases. Do not try to ignore chest pain and "work (or play) though it." Chest pain is a warning to seek medical attention.
