Burning neck pain

I am 27 yrs old. I have had this pain in my neck for 4 yrs now. It is on my right side in the middle of my neck. It is a burning pain and it goes down about 6 inches following the shoulder blade. I've figured out that it is triggered by looking to my right for more than a few seconds. It is also triggered if I sit at a desk too long. I've had an MRI and the doctor said there was a little degerneration but nothing to be concerned about. He sent me to another doctor who brought me to the hospital and gave me an epideral shot. There was no difference in my neck after the shot. In fact my neck hurt the whole time I was on the table. I've just been living with it because nothing has helped. The only thing that made a difference was the numbing shot they gave me so they could inject some steriods in my neck. I've also done physical therapy for a couple months with no change at all. Any advice?

I believe you may be having other treatments of choice to effectively handle your pain. Based on the MRI results you have stated I think a more conservative approach involving pain medications, neck exercises and neck braces would be appropriate. Other options may be bed rest with traction for which hospitalization may be required. Surgery can also be considered but only after getting a clearer idea of your condition.

It may be best for you to consult a doctor to get a better picture of the options available to you considering that every case is unique.

[LINKS REMOVED]That is the proper thing to do, but with your unique condition I would not rely on one doctor's opinion for a diagnosis and treatment. I would get a couple other opinions to make sure you have a good idea of what's wrong and what needs to be done to resolve it.
