anxiety symptoms or heart related?
i am a 31 year old woman. i have chest pain,left upper arm pain,shoulder pain and neck pain. its sharp and it comes and goes. i do suffer from anxiety and am not medicated and i am trying to conceive so i am trying to stay away from meds.. i had a ekg and dtress test in january and they were normal. doctors say its anxiety. i always fear its heart related. i do smoke and i try to eat healthy but not always. i am slowly starting an excercise regimn. is this normal for anxiety especially in the left arm? i am freaking out.

I have anxiety also, but have not had pain symptoms like yours. Have you had panic attacks? If so, is the pain surrounding your attacks? I would keep a journal of where the pain begins, how long it lasts, how often it occurs, and which area, how severe, etc. everytime it happens. I would definately see another doctor for a second opinion. Usually the old chest pain and left arm pain is a consistent sign of heart attack in men. Women usually do not have the left arm pain, but a sense of doom. (feeling something is really wrong). I would ask the doctor to see a cardiologist if you feel it is the heart causing this. I would ask for an echocardiogram to check if anything is wrong with your heart. I would ask your OB GYN also if there is any medications that are safe during pregnancy for anxiety.
