after H.Pylori

In March 2007 I was diagnosed as having HP. I was put on antibiotics for 14 days and then acid therapy (acifex) for two months. At the end of the two months I was in more pain then when I started. I recievd a breath test and tested positive for HP again. I was started on another 14 days of a defferent antibiotic and this time at the end of the 14 days waited two weeks and breath tested again. Negative result this time HP is gone. I was put on acifex for the next 6 weeks and I almost felt better. It is now October I have had diarrea for the past 3 months it does not matter what I eat. I have low grade fevers, bloating, upper stomach pain and occasional pain for the gallbladder area. My GI doc thinks it's my gallbladder but so far testing is negative. I asked to be retested for H.pylori but he said the breath test in the gold standard for detecting that and if I was negative in July I would not have it again so quick and has not tested for it. My ultra sound of the gallbladder came back negative, still waiting on bloodwork I will not have another appointment unitl Nov. 8th. He is on vacation and I am getting worse. It's been 8 months of hell, I miss work alot, can't eat and I am in pain 24 hrs a day. I also have head aches. Can anyone relate to this or have suggestions?

Hi,

So sorry for all your discomfort. Heres a link for the breath test:

it can give false negatives depending on when it was done post treatment. Since your gallbadder was neg, maybe the blood work will have an answer. Anyway with the symptoms you describe maybe you now have an ulcer. Will he do an endoscopy? I would keep taking the acid reducing medication and if your get worse I would even go to the er for a visit since your dr. is away. Sounds miserable. Let us know how you do.I am now done with what my doctor would say is all tests. All tests came back negative even the breath test. Today was quite suprising an yet scary. I had a lower intestinal scan or (Barium test) the technician told me it would last any where from two to four hours. Both the technician and the radiologist were surprised when the Barium went through my system in 45 minutes. The radiologist said he has never seen this test go so fast and the earliest one he remembers finishing was 1 hour 30 minutes. He said he does not know what is wrong but something is not right. This is the first time someone has said I do have a problem rather than just placing the blame on IBS. I may have IBS from the two treatments to get rid of the H. Pylori but I don't feel that way. I hope the doctors can figure this one out. Any ideas from anyone would be helpful?

Thank you
